Victor 1893 (USA)

This Victor was for sale on Ebay.com in 2011. Just found in the shed, I guess. Nice project bike with beautiful details, like the rear wheel brake and the typical Victor chainwheel. Early pneumatic tyres. Victor introduced them in 1892, at first only on their sport models. When the pneumatic tyres came, they left out their famous suspension fork.
This bike has no mudguards, which is very sporty. But it has a brake, which makes it somewhat less sporty ;-))
In 1896 Victor introduced on all models the horizontal top tube, which dates this bike exactly in the period 1892-1895.

It's a shame the rear hub has been changed, now it's fitted with a backpedaling brake.
